Go to

where you set up a API key and secret which you then have to put into your
FAlbum.class.php

Once you have activated the plugin go to settings on Wordpress and select FAlbum
then you have to do link to Flickr and have Flickr approve your usage.
Finally you are led to a set-up page and you can set-up your album.

Hi,

have the same problem and also found the code in FAlbum.class.php
Cant tell you the exact line, cause its only Notepad here, but it looks like this:

There is an "_" in front of {$size}. Problem is, if I delete that underscore, the pictures in my posts are working, but all other pictures in my falbum are broken.

I had this problem as well. Gave me quite the head trouble.

But I found a working solution to it.

1. Go to you falbum settings in adminpanel of wordpress.
2. Set use friendly urls to "title"
3. In the navigation root label, remove everything written there and type "/something/" (witout the " " ofcourse). Do not call it /photos/. If you have a page-slug called photos etc it might mess up it seems. I just used /bilder/ since thats the norwegian word for photos.

Then I updated options, and the cache was cleaned when I did that.
I also made sure that that my .htaccess file had the correct code.
Even tho my htaccess file is writeable, it still shows the code to use at the bottom of the config page.

Hi Robert,
This happens to me as well. I use the 404notifier as well which says that my falbum is not there. I also tried using the "is_404()" function in the header to create a dynamic title for my gallery pages, but it also thinks that my falbum pages are non-existent giving me a 404 error.

I have a working Falbum gallery over at http://www.xune.net/gallery, but when I try to determine the type of page that a gallery page resides on, it says that it is a 404 page. So when I use the "is_404()" code in the header of a gallery page, it returns true, thinking that the gallery is not found, even though it shows up. Does anyone know why Wordpress thinks that Falbum is not found and sets 404 as true, even though my gallery is working and shows up?

Forgive me if I am missing something, but my site (camptigershreveport.com) has falbum showing up fine in the sidebar. But when I click the link it takes me to a 404 error. I have created a page called photos (camptigershreveport.com/photos) and I assume some magic is supposed to make th photos appear there? I have even followed the instructions to create falbum.php in my themes directory as well, no luck.

I would be fine if the thumbnails even just linked straight to flickr. I just can't have them linking to a broken page.

Greetings. I have a question regarding integrating FAlbum. Currently, the FAlbum page is altering my WordPress template; how do I make the corrections?

I tried the directions at this page: http://www.randombyte.net/wiki/falbum/incorporating_falbum_into_your_own_theme but they have not helped.

http://a.girlnamedgo.net/ is my weblog, and http://girlnamedgo.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/falbum/wp/album.php is the FAlbum page; as you can see it has altered the tables. As I am installing FAlbum for the first time, I'm very unfamiliar with how the plugin works and do not know how to alter the template?

Also, if you try to click on links to galleries or images from page which I have linked, there is an error message. Why are the links not working? The only way to access the individual images is from the 'random images' block in the sidebar?

So I got this plugin to work somewhat in WP 2.5, but I'm still having issues.

The main photos pages shows up fine and displays the sets and recent photos, but if I click on a set it just goes to a blank page. I viewed the page source and the code stops right after loading the overlib.js and before prototype.js. This also happens when I try to view an individual photo either from the recent photos page or from my recent photos displayed on my sidebar.

Can you fix this for 2.5 please? Or let me know if there's something I can change in those JS files to make it work?

There is a problem when I'm using cyrilic characters in my pictures description.

Caching seems to don't work.

I fixed it by creating the cache table like this :

create table wp_falbum_cache ( ID varchar(40) UNIQUE NOT NULL, data text, expires datetime ) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;

and replacing row 91 in FAlbum-WP.class.php with this

$wpdb->query("REPLACE INTO $table SET ID='".md5($key)."', data='".$wpdb->escape(maybe_serialize($data))."', expires=DATE_ADD(NOW(), INTERVAL $cache_option SECOND)");

and replacing row 60 with this :

$data = maybe_unserialize($output->data);

I simply removed the addslash function, because it doesn't work with cyrillic in the string.

I hope anyone finds this helpful.

I've spent considerable time customizing FAlbum and have become somewhat familiar with the functions. I ran into an issue where pasting the picture "code" from the ajax modules into a post causes an extra underscore "_" to show up in the image URL.

So when I paste
[fa:p:id=2057729555,j=l,s=s,l=p]

into my post I get a URL like
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2045/2057729555___m.jpg

Note: See the double __ underscore there? Where the heck is that coming from?

Don,

It depends on how you want your users to submit the photos and tag them. If I'm not mistaken there is no way to do that via this plugin, i.e. it must all be done through Flickr. (If that was obvious, sorry)

So, to answer your ?'s
1) Sure, sounds reasonable to me.
2) I think you'd have to customize FAlbum quite a bit to end up with your idea of a "photo page". Best to link to Flickr and do it all there if your not up to writing / hacking some PHP code.
3) No, I just spent a LOT of time hacking FAlbum to show the photos I wanted on my site. The biggest challenge is the lack of documentation. But that's what I expected.

Flickr is an excellent way to work/share photos though. I'm actually running two Flickr plugins, this one, FAlbum and another that's a bit more advanced by SilasPartners at http://tantannoodles.com/toolkit/photo-album/

I personally like FAlbum because they've abstracted much of the Flickr API away from you, i.e. It's supposed to be easy. That being said, if you want things so so in your layout, you'd better brush up on your PHP/CSS.
